Matchframe Problem with Merged Clips
Hey all,
I’ve been running into some trouble with merged clips that I use for dallies on our film. Problem arrises when we are editing in the timeline and doing multiple editing tasks(prelaping, trimming). When we go back to certain merged clips to matchframe, it only goes back to Video and not the merged audio for that merged clip.
1. Yes the clips are linked with the underline
2. I have tested to see if the linked button needs to be on or off, seems to make no difference.
3. I have tried to edit and make the problem happen, and there is no ryme or reason to what causes it. Some times its prelapping audio and sometimes Ill find it just not working for some reason.Also another quick thing is why if I Cut Excess video or audio on a merged clip off that it becomes unlink on a timeline..I relink it, but why does FCP do that? Just wanted to see if anyone has the same problem??

Hi Drew,
I have the same problem with the merge clips. When I use the match frame, some of them, not all of them, misteriously become unlinked.
Some idea about what is happening?

nope, but i did find a semi work around. What I did is I brought the sequence I was working back into the project where the original merged clips were made and worked on it in that project then when done moved it out. Seemed to work pretty good, but again a complete problem with fcp 6 and 7 and merged clips working with multiple projects. FCP has not come anywhere close to replicating the Autosync function in AVID in terms of keeping the merged clips merged… Just another one of it fcp’s quarks while working with merged clips
