Master Template – missing drop zone box
Posted by David Carroll on June 4, 2008 at 2:52 amWhen using a Master Template I do not have a box in the Drop Zone for placing a video clip or photo. I can add text, but that’s it.
The Drop Zone is there, but is missing the little box to drop the graphical element into.
This occurs in every Template I have tried.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply.
To use the Master Template feature I:
1) place my cursor on the timeline to make sure it is active
2) From the menu bar above I select locate Master Template… and select it.
3) Up pops many templates (NTSC, PAL, HD) from which I chose one. Let’s say my project is an SD project so I select an SD template
4) The template places itself on the timeline
5) I click on it to make sure it is active
6) I then click on the “Controls” tab in the viewer. Here I see all of the zones for entering text and placing graphics. For example, at the top I might have “Drop Zone 4” and to the right of the box that says “Drop Zone 4” I have a box that looks like it would accept text. Here comes the problem… there is supposed to be another box between “Drop Zone 4” and the text box, a small box that allows me to drop in a graphical element. THIS SMALL BOX IS MISSING. It is not there in any template.I’m familiar enough with FC to know that these boxes are supposed to be there, but they aren’t.
THAT is my problem.
Thanks for any thoughts.

June 4, 2008 at 4:22 pmIn the past a few people were not placing them on the timeline, so it’s good you’re using the templates properly. On the other hand, it’s bad you’ve discovered a problem.
I’ll do a little poking about to see if its an issue here. I’m using a PowerPc, is your machine an Intel MacPro? There are a few issues that affect the Macpros, but not the older PowerPcs.

I tried a few master templates here and it seems they are working.
Did you do a fresh install either when installing Leopard or FCS2, or possibly just an update? If just an update its possible that a fresh install might be in order, but I’m only hazarding a guess. As I mentined previsously, it could also be an Intel issue…
Wish I could provide a more definitive answer.

June 4, 2008 at 9:36 pmI had the same problem. After I installed the latest FCS 2 updates, all the Drop zones for video appeared.
