    Hi there,

I always have trouble collecting projects, now its being extra annoying ????. My project is collecting everything but giving me an error about one file at the end and then nothing is actually linked to the collected files, it isn’t offline, just linking to the files that are all over the place. I’m wondering if theres a way, like in Premiere/Final Cut to unlink all the media and then re-link to where you want it to look, rather than doing this one by one??

    Thank you!

The best way to do this is to go to File > Dependencies > Collect Files. choose All Files and then select a location. It should collect all of the files into the same place mad links should update to the new location. The easiest way to test this is to put the files on an external drive and then open the project under a different user account to check.

If collect files is not working it may be that you have a corrupt file or a permissions issue. Try running a disk utility on your hard drive to fix any permissions. If collect files stops suddenly, try to figure out which file it was attempting to save when it crashed. You can watch the progress to figure it out.

Also, instead of removing that problem file you could just compress it and delete the original, this way it will be skipped and marked as missing. You can add it back in later.

I mean Zip up the folder so the contents can’t be accessed by the AE project 🙂

If you are missing one file, you can type “missing” in the search bar of the project panel, choose the file, double click on it and locate the source. Then you can go ahead and save the project and collect the files.
