I am trying to scale and move an image behind a mask. I can’t seem to keep the mask seperate from the image. Can anyone help? The mask scales when I try to animate scaling the image? How can I change only the image without changing the mask?

Make a new solid the same size as the comp then make the mask on this layer instead. Click on the switches/modes button along the base of the timeline (I say this because it too me ages to find it when I had the same problem) then where it says trkmat change it from none to alpha matte ‘white solid, new solid, black solid, whatever the layer is called’.
