    on the video clip is a person making a speech… i want to mask away the background… outlining the subject…. how do i adjust the mask to keep the subject while the subject moves somewhat in the mask outline? i guess i am animating the mask frame by frame??? ouch any suggestions are welcomed

    There are several threads with the complete low down, great stuff.

    There is also a few Scripts that will match AE’s tracking to masks for roto work. They work well in certain situations, and are as good a the track you get. Here’s THREAD FOR THE SCRIPTS:

    Of all the suggestions above I think t’s importants to use multiple masks, one for each part that moves as a unit, like torso, arm, leg, etc.

    If you end up doing frame-by-frame drawing of masks, consider bringing your video out of After Effects to do it. Photoshop has excellent selection, drawing, and painting tools, all of which are better suited to rotoscoping than the tools in After Effects.
