I am using AE 6.0 and I am having a problem with masking. I was trying to do the suicide tutorial from videocopilot.net and when I make a mask the mask is a different shade than the background. So in the tutorial I make a mask around the head to make it dissapear and I can still see a dark circle where my mask was. I try feathering it and it does not work. The only thing that works is adjusting the curves but there has to be something I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

mayby the other background for the mask is a little bit darker( the background without the guy on it, so that you can mask the guy’s head away with normal background), look at the “opacity” values for that one perhaps.

Its no darker what so ever. Its actually the same exact layer just duplicated. So the lighting, darkness and everything is the exact same.
