Hi Everyone… I’m at my wit’s end. I have a deadline tonite and I can’t get my Vegas 6.0 to cooperate it seems (could be me but I’ve followed the instructions so here goes:)

I have patient records as part of a demo…. need to blur or pixelate the names for privacy reasons. Here’s what I’ve done:

    1. Duplicate the video track of images to blur
    2. Lower track, OPEN the PAN/CROP TOOL and SELECT MASK
    3. Using the MASK TOOL, I do a BEZIER CROP around the patient names on the form, only the names are highlighted
    4. Go to Upper Track and SELECT MEDIA F/X Option & Select Pixelate
    5. SELECT MEDIUM PIXELS

Funny thing is earlier, 3 out of the 5 highlighted areas were pixelated fine, hiding the names BUT…2 highlighted areas were still coming through clearly. I went in and checked my masks…nothing different from the other masks… haven’t assigned any values, etc.

I’M STUMPED !! Book only goes so far and is far from being a quick read or help at this pace. Anyone have any ideas?

I keep checking my pan/crop settings, f/x settings… have toggled on/off things in track controls…nothing seems to work.

    HELP!!

    Thanks,

    Chaz

If they’re all done exactly the same, they should all match. Obviously something is different.

You can also do this using the Cookie Cutter effect to create the mask. My newsletters have a “how to blur faces” article which shows how to do this using the Cookie Cutter.

    Thanks for your post.

Had to do with preview monitor…somehow I was seeing the non-pixelated track instead of the total efx. I toggled the preview monitor icon and did a check and that apparently was it.
