masking effects?
I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious here, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to mask a numbers effect on a solid layer. I’ve got a subtract mask over some of the numbers, and it’s not doing anything. Am I missing something?

It’s a render order thing. Remove the mask, then precomp the solid with the numbers effect on it (Layer>Precompose (move all attributes)). Then mask that precomp layer.
It’s weird but about half off the problem in AE can be solved by precomping, OK, maybe a slight exaggeration.
