masking and panning
I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 9. I have two video tracks, one on top of the other. Once I’ve masked off part of the top track, I find I can’t move it around with respect to the other track. Is there something simple I’m missing?

It took me two days to understand your question, but yes I think you miss something. Masking is done in the Event Pan/Crop window as you already found out. Moving the clips in 2D (or fake-3D) space is done in the Track Motion window. You find the button for the Track Motion Window in the track header (and I hope that I understood your question well).

Yes, it does answer the question. I’ve been playing around with the track motion, trying to get used to that. I guess I’m just curious as to why I’m unable to crop and move video after it has been masked using the pan/crop window.

I’m an idiot. Moving and resizing is still available after you’ve masked off an area in the pan/crop window. All I had to do was click on the position timeline as I was on the mask timeline.
