masking a video on top of another
I have to create video clip involving a video on top of another video. Here is my problem, I brought both into After Effect and added a mask to the one video that would be inserted. With the mask, I was able to edit the mask’s shape with the main video. As I moved forward, I added a keynote for positioning. I did this repeatly editing the mask as I went along the track. When I played it back the mask did not worked properly. What effect should I use or can create to look as the main movies moves, the smaller one moves with it. I am using 6.5. Please let me know if this is to vague and I will try to clarify my question

I apologize for the confusion That I wrote earlier. Let me start all over. FIRST I have two videos. The first video is a cylinder moving around in space. There is a door at the end of the cylinder. As the cylinder comes into view, the door opens. As the cylinder door opens, you see the second video come into view. The more the cylinder rotates; you begin to see more of the second movie. How is this process done?
P.S. I am new to After Effects so try not to BE too condescending; right Dave LaRonde? -
What a complete and total waste of time! I wanted to know what James Willis was asking, but instead, we had to read Dave LaRonde’s narcisistic bitching. I completely understood what James was asking. So, maybe the only one who is needs to grow up here is Dave. At your age, you’d think that you knew better. If you can’t answer people’s questions then don’t waste their time complaining about grammar. And for that matter, I don’t think you even know how to answer his question. I’m not sure where you stand with Creative Cow, but if you indeed work for them, you should be terminated immediately.
Do us all a favor, and find someone who actually wants to help people. No one asked for a grammar lesson.
By the way, I aced grammar and I understood what James was asking.

Same here;
Trying to mask 1 video with another.
In other words; I have the RGB channel in 1 .avi and I have the Alpha in another .avi. The movies are timed up and exactly the same size, etc. I just need the alpha movie to mask my RGB movie. I assume that’s possible?thanks in advance to anyone who has advice.
