    Hello,

I am new to Premiere and regular AE-User.
For a small project I wanted to do some titling in Premiere and wandered about a problem with masking which I don’t get.
I am using some large pictures flying in my composition using scale+position parameters. Now I want to mask them with a mask layer above the picure layer (or track… you see I come from AE!) using the trackmatte key. I don’t get the layers to fit and it looks like the problem is that my mask layer is of course the size of my composition to form a smooth border in it while the layer to be masked is about 4times the size.
Do the layers to be masked and the layer masking it have to be of the same size and if so … which way is best to mask a pan+zoom picture track? Some kind of pre-composing/nesting or is there some switch I didn’t find?

Thanks for any hints in advance,

    Karim

In Premiere 2.0 the mask does not need to be bigger than the screen. I have a tut on video2stream.com

All bets are off in previous versions of Premiere.
