You know what i found out? That its better to work with footage that has no mask and then mask it, coz now that i am working on footage that was shot HD and has a mask already, whenever i need to apply an effect or color correct or resize…. it affects the whole frame which means even the mask gets color corrected or resized!! what do you do when you have a footage that is already has a mask on it ??

Treat it as thought it has no mask and then reapply the a matte to the top channel to return the bars to black before going back out to tape. And yes, it is better to work without bars in case you need to change the composition of the frame etc.
