  • Mask question – Can Vegas work with moving masks?

I keep getting mattes and masks confused so I hope I don’t get this question wrong..

I want to buy this clip and use it in my project

    Bottom left of the screen

It’s a black filmstrip moving around the screen over a white background. Now, I want to replace the black area with one shot and the white area with another. I think I can do this with the mask composite mode?

My main question is though, how do I get the shot to ‘stick’ to the black filmstrip or ‘track it’ and move around with it so that my shot replaces the filmstrip and has the same exact movement. Otherwise it would like somewhat like a wipe.

Is this even possible in Vegas?

[Frankie] “how do I get the shot to ‘stick’ to the black filmstrip or ‘track it’ and move around with it so that my shot replaces the filmstrip and has the same exact movement.”

Manually add keyframes to your shot to follow the movement. One thing to change: Make sure the “Smoothness” setting is set to 0.
