I have a very strange problem, i have converted a font to vector shapes in photoshop and then imported it into AE, it brought it with vector masks of course and then i applied fill to it to change its black color but when i try to apply expension to the masks it writes “out of memory doing mask expension”- i have 1 gb of ram-why does it do it??

the thing i want to do is make the font to appear from scratch using mask expension-for that i need the font to be masked and its a very complex font and its hard to mask it in after or to auto trace it properly.the thing is i want the font to be filled like a paint or something and for that i need to paint the font before i mask it and i use the fill effect and then when i use mask expension the memory problem accures.
i hope u understood my probelm i dont think i did but never mind.

i dont want to scale it cause it is scaled propertionly and the mask expension gives it more special look almost like its coming out of a wall or something-the thing is that i use first the stroke effect on the font so it looks like it grows almost like a tree and then i want to apply expension to give the font an effect like it is being painted. naother thing dont forget that the font is hollow inside thats why i want to use the fill effect!!

i dont understand exactly what you want to do.

but i think that this mask grow/shrink feature that you are searching for can be done with the “simple choker”. just type into your comp and use the simple choker to let it grow from scratch.

tell me if there is still something missing about functionality. but the simple choker does exactly what grow/shrink does.

    hope that helps,
