I’m using Avid Xpress Pro. I’m trying to make spinning 3-d circles in Avid. Which I have done. I just animate them spinning in the marquee editor. I want to animate them moving around in the regular editor sequence, but when I try to overlap the spinning circles with one on V1 and another directly on top in V2 the will not animate separately. How do I get the shapes when overlapped to animate differently without the marquee tool. I just want to use the effect palette. I am animating to music also BTW that is why I can’t use Marquee

    a shape per layer.
You’ll save a boatload of time by doing it in after effects.

I cant use after effects its a school assignment. I saw my teacher do it. but for some reason my shape will combine with the other shape when I add an effect.

    Heidi,

There’s no way to do it the way you want. Either each shape is a separate title (and then you can use the effects palette) OR you do the animation in marquee. That part of is isn’t that hard.

Basically, write down the length of the animation, and each ‘point’ you want something to happen.
Set the length of the animation to match in marquee, turn on animation and move to each of the times you want animation to occur.

    Best,

    Jeff G

yeah i tried the separate title, but when I want to resize one the other that was on a different video layer would adjust with it

Sounds like you nested another effect on top.

    Don’t

Promote each title to 3d to resize it.
