You can use the markers button in the log and capture window, personally though I would add these markers after I capture, much less fiddly and time consuming.

Thanks Roli, I’ve used the markers during logging before but I want to be able to add a marker while I am capturing so that I don’t have to watch the video once for logging and then again while capturing. The markers don’t have to be precise. You can do this in AVID and I was hoping there was a way in FCP. I’ve scoured the manual and can’t find any reference.

You can’t do this in FCP. Use Feedback for a feature request.

    All the best,

Ah I see, marking on the fly so to speak. I don’t believe there is, I could be wrong but I think not; maybe the M key?.

I would go old fashioned on this if you want to mark on the fly and that is with a pen and paper just make quick notes as you’re watching, not ideal and a bit primitive but it’s how they used to do it in the old days! 🙂

Thanks Tom & Roli. I’ll make that feature request and maybe ask to be able to see TC while capturing too, that way I could go “old school” and write time codes while watching.

if you want to view time code its already available to you by
looking at your cameras display screen
or connect a TV or colour monitor to the camera with superimposed Timecode enabled in the set up menu

or use the Firestore to directly transfer into FC Pro then playback and add markers (M)key
