Hey Everybody. So I’ve got these aerial maps and I need to come up with a good looking way to highlight different spots (residencies and whatnot). I’ve tried a bunch of different methods; glows, spotlights, outlines, radar blipy thing. But none of these have made everybody happy. I’m hoping that somebody has can point me in a new direction (an effect I don’t know about, a different method, something). So if you’ve got any ideas or have dealt with this before, give me a shout, it will be much appreciated. -j

If you show people stuff that works and all they say is, Not right,” you’re stuck with asking them exactly what they want to see. Ask if they can refer you to movie effects or something on PBS.

You cannot waste your time trying options they will only decline.

Can you go into 3D? Do you need to be more hip or more traditional? What’s the style of the narrative? How are the maps being created? Naturalistic? Old-world, Google-ish, highly stylized?

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
