Managing big project with xmp metadata
Hi.
A question rather for documentary type of video work, for guys that are dealing with projects that contain thousands clips.
Can you describe your workflow? how you manage, and sort your clips.On my side I found myself in a trap. I’ve spend a couple on months to create detailed xmp tags for my project of about 2000 clips and now if I load all these clips into a project and want to sort them or even scroll in project manager with all metadata displayed in columns – it is SSSSLOOOOOOOOWWW . I never would say that premiere pro can be unoptimized to such extend – my machine is ok to deal with 4k editing but a small database makes chuck it’s guts. Unworkable. (I wish I had gone with final cut).
Can you guys suggest me a direction to go now?

This is strange, 2000 clips is a breeze for a database.
Are you sure it’s the XMP metadata that’s killing you?
Did you contact Adobe support?(I’m working on XMP logging tools now, and would like to know.)

Yes, it surprises me also 2000 should be a split second thing.
However many operations are sluggish when the project manager is visible. Even ‘save project’ – all the rows in project manager get greyed out (this can last up to 10-15 seconds) and then saving is done. Bizarre!I don’t even try to contact adobe support as they are known to ignore bug reports.
