Making sure Timecode was Printed to Tape
I have just printed a timeline to DVCAM via firewire to my DSR-11 deck. I want to make sure the timecode was printed to tape.
When I view the playback, I push the display button on the remote and I get the counter reading at the top of the screen next to the play symbol. (00:04:12:22)
But when I push the “data code” button on the remote, I just get blank dashes on the bottom left like this: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and _ _:_ _:_ _
Is the one at the top the time code? Or is it the one at the bottom left?
If its the one on the bottom, how can I make sure that FCP is imprinting the timecode to tape.

What he said. But the DSR-11 does not print timeline timecode to tape, unless you go through a series of very specific steps. Timeline timecode via firewire normally cannot be done.
