  • Making still graphics for 1440 x 1080i HDV projects

Experiencing a small set-back and I’m hoping someone can help me out.

I’m working on an HDV project, using 1440 x 1080i pixel aspect ratio. Using photoshop, I’m creating images that are 1440 x 1080 pixels and in photoshop when I export them as JPGs, they’re fine, but when I drop them in the timeline of my sequence in the project, the pictures becomes distorted, squeezed horizontally.

The sequence settings I’m using is HD (1440 x 1080 16:9 since these projects are going to be exported using Apple ProRes 422).

If anyone can shed some light for me, I’d be ever so grateful.

    Cheers folks!

Either use Chris’ suggestion of 1920×1080 or, if you have the most recent Photoshop, take your 1440×1080 project and go into IMAGE -> PIXEL ASPECT RATIO and change it to ‘HDV 1080.’ Then fix it to make sure everything looks right again.

Just another option. Both ways will work.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try!
I don’t have the most recent photoshop since I’m only working with Photoshop 7, so if I’m going to be using a 1920×1080 image size, what’s the title safe area?
