Making footage look like toys/models
I’ve noticed a current effect being used in a few UK TV shows where a wide shot of streets/buildings/cars etc have been treated with a simulated DOF look. The footage is usually timelapsed or sped up too to give the look of toys or a model town etc.
I think it’s mainly the DOF simulation that helps with this look – has anyone done this really successfully – if so, what other effects and filters did you use to help strenghten this effect? Did you just use a graduated blur for the DOF or something else?

The best way to do Tilt shift is when taking the pictures – often this is done with stills in timelapse. It is pretty easy to do manually in Photoshop. Was not aware that there are plugins for this.
