Making compressions: My color gets messed up
There is no Quicktime Pro forum, so here seemed like the most appropriate place to ask the question. I use Quicktime Pro 7 to transcode my deliverables.
•In the Color Sync settings:’Source Profile’ I’m assuming that is asking what color profile is attached to the video. Right? And ‘Destination Profile’ is what profile I want attached to the compression. So if I’m working with an sRGB video and want to keep it that way, I would choose sRGB for the Source and Destination then, right?
But when I do that, my video looses a ton of saturation and contrast.
What gives?
•Also, what does ‘Current Monitor’ mean, the choice at the very top of the profile list.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Don’t apply any filter.
If your footage is sRGB, QT will convert it to YUV CCIR 709.
That’s the standard for HD video and the equivalent of sRGB in the YUV color space .

Most of the work I do ends up on the web, so I’d like to attach an sRGB color profile to the video. I think Color Sync is by default set up to ‘Current Monitor’ for both source and destination. Any idea what that means?
