Making an hour long AVI in NTSC
I need major help. Using my AMC150 I make an hour long show for public broadcast which I need to export and put on a DVD for the station. I use the program BURN to make the DVD. When I export the hour long show as an AVI it creates a bad file. Short AVI (1-10 min) do not have this problem. Other formats I have tried have produced a video without sound for some reason. Any advice?

Can’t you export QT instead of AVI?
Mac an AVI doesn’t like each other too much.

As Rafael suggests, you should look for a non-AVI workflow. You are running into a 4GB file size limit for AVI export from Final Cut. That is why short AVI’s work but not long ones. AVI is really an outmoded container format for computer video. With Quicktime there is no such limit, although you will have similar trouble if you try to export to a network drive or attached drive that is formatted in FAT32 format. Again, there is a file-size limit of 4GB.
A possible workaround would be to export a Quicktime movie first and then use Quicktime Pro to change that to AVI on a PC system. But really, avoid AVI altogether if you can.

When I was doing a non avi and tested the file in quicktime there was no sound but I just tested it it on VLC player and found it did have sound made a DVD it is working well. Thank you for the help did not know about the AVI size limit. I will export right to quicktime in the future should save me some headaches.
