  • Making a print design into a layered eps Illustrator file

Hi…My first post really hope someone can help me please!!!

I made a 3 colour print design in Photoshop which I have each colour as seperate documents i(saved as Tiff)…as i always have BUT apparently I need to make it a layered eps file in illustrator to send it off…in Photoshop I could layer these deleting the ‘white’ areas to show each layer of colour. It doesn’t seem to work the same in illustrator

2 out of 3 I can live trace (I’m guessing this makes it a vector rather than a tiff opened in Illustrator) but the third just comes out totally blank, so i’m a bit stuck. I can’t manually trace it it’s very very complex. Anything i can do? Or do I not need to live trace?

Also if I put the 3 layers on top of each other the newest layer blocks out all the rest. Or am I approaching this the wrong way to get a ‘layered document’

By saving it as EPS ILLUSTRATOR DOC is that making it a layered document or should each colour of my print be on a different level.

Can anyone help??? Even just a little???

Regards..hope your all having a good day!! LOUISE
