  making a mask follow the action below it…

  I have my movie imported.
  I want to mask one of the actors, to just feature them (Laurence Olivier, Hamlet, 1948).
  I have been sucessful until I try to make the mask follow the actor as he moves, leaving the rest of the screen black in order to add text.
  I tried Motion Path on the mask, to no avail.
  Any suggestions from the Fountain of Motion Wisdom?
  I thirst.
