  • Making a filter in 5, and speed of effect in FCPX

    Hi,

I’m trying to make some FCPX filters where the effect is a simple overlay using ProRes film grain clips.

Very simple, but when the filter is applied in FCPX, the speed of the grain clip is slowed down proportionate to the how much longer the clip in FCPX is compared to the filter’s timeline in Motion. So if the clip in FCPX the filter is applied to is 24 seconds long, and the Motion filter project is 8 seconds, the grain clip gets slowed down 3x in playback.

I’ve played around with the grain clip end condition in Motion (Loop, etc), but still getting the same result in FCPX…i.e., it never plays back at 100% unless the clip I apply the filter to is identical in length to the “filter length”

    Any ideas?

Just add a Project Loop End marker to the end of the Motion project.

    Beautiful!

Thanks so much. I was digging in the manual, looking for end condition toggles in the Project Properties, etc etc.

    Seems to work great!
