I was wondering what everyone recommends as far as converting color photos to B&W. Obviously there are tons of ways to do this, one of the easiest being hue saturation with saturation all the way down. However, I’ve heard that certain ways mimick B&W film a lot better than others. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone know how to fake filters? For instance Yellow and Red filters that can do things in B&W photos like bring out the sky or the ground (when used with traditional B&W film, not a yellow or red tint in PS).

Look at the tutorial on exactly this topic in Cow Communications. I saw it a couple weeks ago and it my now be archived but it showed a great method for this.

I looked on the Cow’s tutorials and wasn’t able to find this. Does anyone have a link to this?
