One of my favourite freeware finds recently is the “Spark” utility. You can use it to record and playback macro’s (global or app specific) … great for modifying simple FCP behaviour like mapping the combo F9, Q to the F9 key, or F10, Q to the F10 key etc. So far its worked transparently for me, no stability issues, no adverse performance issues … only identifiable change seems to be an increase in productivity.

When I have to choose inserts from a very long master clip I just put it in the same bin where I want to have these Inserts (subclips) and then I do the CMD+U rename it and all… when I’m finished I move the master clip back to where it belongs.
