Hello, I would like to allocate more RAM to Premiere. I have 2 GB and I constantly have like a gig free (but Premiere suffers, taking up max. 1 GB and usually lot less). Free RAM is useless.

How can I make Windows XPSP2 allocate more RAM to Premiere?

I haven’t optimized XP in any way, it’s mostly useless, but I would like to make this one fix.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can’t with 2 GB. Your only option is to increase memory to 4 GB.

Why? Is Premiere RAm management that bad? I’ ve almost always got like a gigabyte absolutely free :-/

No, it is Windows that uses that much for video memory, PCI mapping etc. Windows manages RAM, not Adobe. Adobe uses whatever is left after Windows has taken it’s part. BTW, I’ve often seen PP use as much as 1.5 GB out of 2 GB.

Yes, Premiere taking up 1,5 of 2 gigs is exactly what I want to achieve :-/ Thanks anyway!
