  • Major problems when trying to Capture!

I did a shoot with a Canon XL2 and I didn’t lay down time code. Now when I try to log and capture, it says this:

“Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and your clip has been saved.”

It does this every time I try to start capturing again, so in User Preferences:

I UNCHECKED THE FOLLOWING WITH NO LUCK:

Sync audio capture to video source if present
    Report droopped frames during playback
    Abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames
    Abort capture on dropped frames

It still keeps stopping and giving the above error message. Any suggestions???

    Thanks,
    Dan

Just LAST NIGHT my XL2 was feeding F.C.E. 3.5 HD with timecoded tape.

However, every time it hit a break in timecode – due to tape shifting between powering down and powering up with the same tape in the camera – capture would halt and show the “searching for timecode break” message.

I went into Easy Setup and selected DV Converter instead of Firewire Basic, operated the XL2 manually instead of through F.C.E., and had no problems during the remainder of a 48 minute capture session.

    Good luck.
