The first of the old ways is that adobe products still do not allow for different video sizes on the same timeline . Add to this that the interface keeps transitions between clips several mouse clicks and dialog choices away unlike the simple Vegas default/drag and drop of transitions.

The Photoshop/After Effects/Premiere/Boris Red style of keeping the layers of effects in the cascade of “stripes” works well for After Effects because it keeps transformations organized. Since Premiere is not so much about adding or creating new visuals but actual editing the interface for me seems unnecessarily removed. I originally started using Vegas when it first came out as an audio engineer when it did not have video capabilities. It looked sort of similar to Pro Tools and Cakewalk but just the ease of response of dragging things around without dialogs popping up everywhere made simple edits so much easier. Premiere still, at least for me, has the design idea of lumping all the most used features like transitions and color in to the same parameter overload windows as the features that actually need them. It still feels like they want to keep the arcane feel of an old analog Avid bay because that is what the professionals are used to… the exact opposite of the design style that led me away from programs like Pro Tools a decade ago. Like you said, though, most of the obtrusive dialogs are gone (most since CS5) but the design directive still seems to be “if it is simple it is not pro” which is a load of rubbish.

Gilles, I had the same issue with my titler previews. No matter if I used Titler Pro, NewBlue, or whatever I couldnt preview it good enough to actually use it. I narrowed it down to my computer. I was running a weak AMD quad core so I decided to upgrade to the Intel 3960 six core and the results are incredible. All my previews are smooth.

Also, Sony’s titler pro is great, but it just came out on svp11 for the first time. It will only get better.

I’m using an i7 w 8gb RAM. I would assume this is powerful enough.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that v12 has improved in this area.

I think Newblue helped me out with the Titler to get it to work…so far.. They recommend that you reboot before you install Titler because if you have opened Vegas just once and shut it down there is still some part of Vegas running. When I followed their directions unistall the old version of titler,reboot then re-installed Titler Pro it seems to have fixed all of the issues.
