  • Major FCP 6 capture problem.

Posted by Intercede.media on November 1, 2007 at 8:52 pm

Trying to capture dvx100 footage using FCP 6 (studio2) with no luck.
When initiating log and capture, I CAN control my camera via FW, but preview is disabled as well as ability to capture footage.

I have tried deleting pref’s, deleting QT prefs, selecting non-controlable device, triple checked settings (NTSC DV), tried variations of turning camera off/on during opening of FCP as well as using alternate ports.

I’m at a loss. Can anyone help!!?!?!

    Need to cut something asap.
    Thanks.

Although this probably is the reason, make sure you only have one video source connected to the computer. the QT libraries that Final Cut uses can only understand 1 video hardware device at once, anymore and it can get buggy.

I only have the camera connected. Is there anything else I can do or look into changing?
    Is it a QT problem?

    Thank you for responding.

It sounds like a similar problem I had once. My solution was to trash my Quicktime receipts in HD > Library > Receipts – Give it a try (feel free to back up the files you trash before you trash them, just to a different folder somewhere). Let me know if it helps.

I actually have the same problem as you. I work off of a PowerBook G4. I upgraded to 10.4.10 and installed Studio One over an old Final Cut (4.5). I tried putting Studio Two on top of it, but still have no ability to capture. Although my camera can be controlled by remote in capture mode, preview does not work, but I get timecode. I also am receiving levels in the audio tab. Were you able to solve your problem? Emptying the cache and receipts didn’t work for me. Please help!

    Thanks so much.

    Update!

I fixed the problem! Thank you for helping a (fcp) brother out with this one.
It turned out it was the QT reciepts that was the problem. I dumped the recieptes earlier in the process, but I had to sniff out hidden files deep in my HD.

After i trashed those as well as an older version of fcp, everything was cool.

For those of you who have had or are currently having the same problems, make sure to dig into that HD not the user prfile and trash those QT reciepts and older versions of FCp and make sure to download afresh version of QT.

    Worked for me.

    Thanks again.
