    Hello, COW!

I’m going insane with a loop expression. It’s pretty basic, I know, but I figured I’d post it after about two and a half hours scouring the forum/Google.

So I’m animating a little hamster walking and then jumping into the air. Getting the walk cycle to loop is no problem; I can also get it to stop. BUT: How can I loop it, stop it, and then create NEW KEYFRAMES for the jump and have the walk keyframes remain unaffected/unlooped? Is this even possible?

    Thanks so much, everyone!

i think i’d do this with separate layers… walking layers and jumping layers.

you’ll trim the walking layers where the jumping layers start. then if you need to go back to the walking layers trim the jumping layers where the walking begins again… did that make sense?

or… don’t use the loop expression, just copy/paste the keyframes and make them do what you need… not as elegant as expressions but the manual method can often be easier and faster.

however, i do think you may be able to do this with the method that dan ebberts describes here:

    https://www.motionscript.com/design-guide/marker-sync.html

his example isn’t using loops, but the method may still apply where you create animated legs in a pre-comp, then use layer marker names to trigger when you need the animation to change…

Oh, wow, that Dan Ebberts trick is GREAT! I’m playing with it now. It might just do what I want! You’re a godsend. Thank you so much!!

Only problem seems to be I can’t make the action repeat… Hmmm…
