Not a big deal, FW800 to FW400 cables are cheap as chips.

January 7, 2009 at 1:49 pmExtra USB on the left, but no USB on the right (where I plug in my mouse). It looks like DVD slot and laptop lock slot only. No matte (anti-glare option, but I’ll wait to see what that looks like). No quad-core. Acer (I think it’s Acer) is already offering a quad core laptop. Up to 8G RAM, but they put 2- 2 gig sticks in, what a shame to have to get rid of 2gig chips to upgrade without paying Apple’s exorbitant prices.

January 7, 2009 at 3:25 pmI think Newsweek hit it right on the head:
If no news is good news, Apple just hit one out of the ballpark. At the annual Macworld trade show in San Francisco today, Apple put on an excruciating 90-minute keynote that may go down in history as the worst Apple event of all time.

So much for all that talk about the new Mac Pros would be revealed at this MacWorld. Of course those would not be all that exciting for the regular consumer anyway.

January 7, 2009 at 3:57 pmHi
Well, what with all those lovely new prototype/early production no-FireWire iMacs in China being shipped off to landfill because Steve recognised that to launch the models in that form would REALLY fuel the FW-free MacBook protest fires once more, and some…Hey, even Apple can’t re-engineer a new motherboard to add FW800 in six weeks flat 😉
So Phil had to spin the rest out as best he could…Quote:
The demo of the new version of iMovie made me want to scream. Loads of confusing new features, a zillion new pulldown menus and functions that nobody in their right mind will ever sit down and learn.
That ‘ll be Randy Ubillos, the wonderful ‘chief architect – video applications’, ie Final Cut, demonstrating his handiwork….
