    Hi there!

    I’m new in this forum.
I’m making a short film and there’s a moment on it when one of the characters
gets out a big machineGun and starts shooting against another guy.
Is it possible to achieve this with AfterFX? I mean, just the spark of fire that happens
in the canon when you pull the trigger, lots of them at the same time.

more or less like this but not so big:

    thanks in advance

This is called “muzzle flash”. I know that Digieffects Delirium has a muzzle flash effect. Artbeats also sells stock footage of muzzle flashes. Andrew Kramer might have some good ideas as well, he’s been working on this kind of thing lately.

You might also look at Particle Illusion if you have access as they have both flashes and spent shell emitters

You might want to check out these Detonation Film Freebies:

Tutorial (for Premiere and FCP, but can do with AE) here:

Then for the repeat of a machine gun (600 rounds per minutes if my Infantry memory holds up, so loop it every three frames if 30 fps comp), use this loop expression:

    Loop_out(“cycle”,0)

See Dan’s tutorial “Animating a Walk Cycle”, by clicking his head above, for details (and project file) on looping.
