    Hello,

I am researching a Macbook Pro to use for Video Editing and Photo Editing. The Apple Store has two refurbs that I am looking at that are very similar except the video cards are different.

One is a previous generation model:
Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory

The other is the lower level current model:
Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB of GDDR3 memory

The specs are otherwise identical (except for slight difference in superdrive speeds). My question is whether or not it is worth it to go with the older Radeon X1600 with 256MB over the newer 8600M GT with 128MB. Obviously the memory is doubled, but I’m wondering if the newer card has better performance than the older card in the Final Cut Studio.

My desire is to have improved realtime effects capability from the MBP when using FCP and Motion.

Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you

The Referb would handle things better…it’s a faster Mac all round in fact. I have a 17″version of that machine, and it does quite nicely with RT effects. (for a laptop that is..)
