    Hey Guys,

I’m new to this forum but from what i heard this is where all the masters are!!

Other than suggesting that i get another system, i would like to ask

    1) im using a macbook 5,1 (no firewire!!), so whats the best external harddisk best for me to use FCP?

    2) does it help if i upgrade to 7200rpm internal hard disk? (if it does, do i set my new internal hard disk to be my scratch disk?

    Thanks!

If you don’t have firewire, you are outta luck. USB doesn’t work for video in FCP. Like, at all. And the internal drive is busy running the OS and apps, so when it starts looking for system resources, you’ll start dropping frames.

You need a different computer if you plan on using FCP.

Thanks Shane for ur quick reply.

i will keep that in mind. But what if, its the worst case scenario, will upgrading my internal hard disk speed helps at least a bit? Thanks!
