Does anyone know of an interface that can be used to output 5.1 Audio from a Macintosh? I have found a few (Gryffin Firewave and M-Audio 410) but I don’t know if they work with Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro. I don’t need to mix 5.1 (although I can with Logic) I just need to be able to hear it. I have a Yamaha Surround Sound system that requies 6 RCA miniplugs, so that would have to be the interface’s output. Inut can be either optical out or fiewire.

The 410 should work with FCP and DVDSP. The PCI based M-audio 5.1 card should work equally as well.

If you want to go the ultra-cheap route, you can take the audio converter/controller of this headphone setup:

..which accepts coax or optical digital in (the G5 has optical in/out), and hook up stereo mini-plug to RCA adapters to the analog outs (C/L/R/SL/SR/SW) to get separate analog outs.
