Mac Pro?
Posted by Rick Mcnealy on September 20, 2006 at 3:39 amWhat is the lowdown for MAc Pro and AE compatability?
Is it supported? Hoe long is the expected wait?
Sorry if this is coverd before:)
I’ve read Adobe’s generic pdf about Intel support but was wondering if anyone had any more insight.

September 20, 2006 at 5:39 amWell, native support for Intel Macs is certainly coming one of these days, but not soon enough for you, I’m afraid, if you intend to buy now. Acrobat 8 will be the first UB app from Adobe, I believe, so make up your own predictions when AE will be ready. ;O)

September 21, 2006 at 4:20 pmI spoke with a customer service person at Adobe yesterday who said that Mac Pro compatible versions of AE, Flash & Photoshop “most likely” will be released in the 1st quarter of 2007. He said that they all, however, can run on the new Mac Pro’s, but use Rosetta vs. Universal binary, meaning they run about 5% slower.
I’m wondering if anyone here is running running either AE or Flash on the new Mac Pro’s and what their experience is. I’m planning on upgrading my computer in a month or so, but won’t if AE or Flash (or Photoshop) run mind-numbingly slow. -

September 22, 2006 at 6:50 pmI have MBP and it runs about the same speed as my PB did so its an upgrade in a sense once the UB is available. I do also have windows on here also which AE/Flash run native and its really quick. So either dualboot and run AE natively on windows, or run AE in OSX which will run about the same speed as a PB.

September 22, 2006 at 8:54 pmthanks, Phife. I’m planning on getting a Mac Pro and currently have a Pismo pb so, I’m figuring a ANYTHING’s gonna be an “upgrade” in terms of speed for me.
