Hi I have just received a new Mac pro 3.2Ghz dual quad core. It came from a broadcast sales company and was already installed with a Kona 3 and FCS 2. when I turned the machine on for the first time it would not boot up, so I called Apple and after removing the Kona 3 card the machine worked fine. Has anybody seen this problem before or do I have a duff card. The card was located in the correct slot and I have tried reinstalling drivers but as soon as you put the Kona back in the mac won’t boot.

    OK

what is the machine config ( OS and QT versions)

did you download the newest K3 driver? My guess is the installer or you used the installer disk rather than DL the newest drivers from AJA.com/support.

osx 10.5.2 and QT 7.4.5 I downloaded the latest drivers. I have now spoken to the supplier who insist it was working when it left them.

Do yourself a favor and run the AJA Conflict catcher in the AJA utilities folder.
see if there is a config issue.

What about FCP 3rd party plugins or other apps?

Which slot, besides the “correct one” is the card in?

Sent the card back to the supplier but they could not find a fault so have had to send the mac back also. I’m now waiting for the verdict.

having the same problem with a 2×2.8 quad Xeon. Removed kona card, and computer boot up, but still having restart problems. Just got a message saying “Updating Boot Caches” from OSX. Let’s see if this makes it happy.

oh, we’re running OS Leopard 5.8
