A few days ago my 2010 Mac Pro (Two 2.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” – 8 cores) started to randomly turn to black. When it happens, the computer is still running but the keyboard commands, say “control-eject”, are unresponsive.

I’m thinking my ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB is the problem, but wouldn’t my keyboard still be responsive?

I know some of you had similar problems with MacBook Pros, but has anyone experienced that with Mac Pros? Any suggestions?

    I have 6GB (6X1GB) and I run the latest OSX10.9 on a 250gb Samsung SSD drive.

    Thank you!

Well, that definately points directly at the graphics card. Not sure why the keyboard won’t respond, but everything else is a direct result of a failing card.
