I want to increase my memory in my Mac Pro for better performance. Am I better off having 8x 2GB memory modules or 4X4GB modules?

Better scope out the prices Richard. The premium for the 4Gb RAM sticks is still pretty severe.

Thanks. I’m OK with the prices. I just want to get the best performing memory config. Also I’m recently aware that FCP only uses 6GB of RAM?!? Can that be correct?

Is there any reason to limit myself to APPLE brand memory sticks? There are some pretty affordable after market sticks available. Some of them are from suppliers who sell APPLE accessories exclusively. And they say they are guaranteed to work.
