Mac Media Composer 7 project won’t relink on PC Media Composer 7
Hey gang. So here is my quandary. I’ll try to be detailed as possible. Thanks for any help you have for me!
In a nutshell, I’m trying to open a Mac MC7 project in the PC version of MC7.
I was hired as an AE to sync a feature film’s footage using Avid MC7. I created a Mac MC 7.0.3 project (I’m Mac-based), then I brought in all the video media (Avid Codec MOV transcodes) via AMA link, and all the audio media (WAV files) via AMA link. I synced all this footage over several weeks (there was no timecode, I had to match slate, create in-points, and sync from that). I then delivered the drive to the director, who has a PC version of Media Composer 7.0.3, and none of the media was online. No problem, I did the trick on his Avid system where I create a new bin, and AMA linked to all the video files, then relinked. This brought all the video files in the project back online and the PC version could now see video. The problem is that I did the same with the audio files, and it is not coming online (relinking) no matter what I do!
I tried “importing” the audio WAV files, and relinked = no luck.
I tried to AMA link to the audio files in a new bin, and relinked = no luck.
(FYI, I am using very unrestrictive relink settings, too)The one detail I will give is that early on in the MAC process I renamed the drive, which threw the clips offline, then I did the “open new bin and AMA link to the files, then relink” process to bring the files back online. This worked fine, even with audio. I don’t know that this is causing the issue, because I got the video files back online no problem. I even tried renaming the drive name to the old name, trying all the above and no luck…
Any suggestions for me?
