Wow yea this Harddrive stuff is very interesting and I’m glad I took
the time to stay on creative cow and just read.

Now being that I am starting my business
have a few clients here and there, but I’d like
    to really go corporate soon.

    How important is an xserve?

Hi I know this thread is very old but I have a question. You suggest cleaning the hard drives. Do you suggest erasing them and selecting “zero out data” or is just erasing them enough. Also on my iMac I have been using it to keep footage and editing with it for a while. I plan to only use externals for my media from now on but I was wondering should I make a complete back up using SuperDuper, boot from that back up and then erase and zero out data on my system volume in my iMac? It’s getting quite sluggish so I was wondering if this advice relates to system volumes as well. For example at my wotk I edit on a MAcBook Pro always on the internal drive. Again I plan to stop doing this but given that it was used this way for so long should I also erase and and zero out that drive.

    Cheers
