I’m thinking of going back to Avid after many years on FCP as FCPX is just a joke and the old version is getting long in the tooth. In terms of hardware I currently have a 2 x 2.4 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xenon Mac Pro and a Matrox MX02 – which I believe will run it fine but I don’t mind starting over. Can I just buy a new Mac Pro and a couple of 4K TVs and get back to work. Thanks in advance.

I have a few systems kicking around, including an MXO2 for use with my laptop. I haven’t checked in a month or so, but back in January, it still didn’t have drivers for the 8.03 Avid release, so I had to roll my laptop back to 7.0 for that gig. I’m on a dongle, so its a pretty easy rollback, as the license just works. With a software activation, you would have to unregister, and then reregister with 7. Avid says you can still go back and forth with that type of setup.
