    Hi
I’m compressing some 1080p25 XDCam footage to MPEG-4 for a client and having a problem – the footage has 2 separate mono audio tracks (cam mike and radio mike), but the MPEG-4 output stereo audio seems just to be duplicates of the radio mike track, there seems to be no way to control how the audio is created in either QuickTime’s Export or Compressor. I need to do this conversion for about 300GB of files so I can’t do it manually – is there a way to have each mono audio track on the source footage come out as a separate channel on the MPEG-4 output file?

    Cheers

I think you’ll find that it’s your audio setup/prefs in FCP that will control how this works on export. One for the FCP forum maybe.

I’m not using fcp for this, the footage was supplied. So I’m exporting fron QT as a QuickTime movie, mpeg-4 codec, linear pcm audio with the 2 Discreet Channels option and that seems to work 🙂
    Cheers
