Mac AVI import/render
I’m using AfterEffects 6.0 on a Mac to add effects to digital video footage (mini DV).
The files were supplied from the client in AVI format, which I open in Quicktime.
Questions:
1. Since AE 6 on the Mac does not support AVI import, do I export the AVI files out of Quicktime as uncompressed QT movies before importing them in AE?
2. Do I export them to QT movies at 29.97 or 59.94?
3. When I do import the movies into AE, do I separate the fields (Interpret Footage>Separate Fields>Lower Field First) and checking the Motion Detect checkbox?
4. When I’m done adding the effects, do I export from AE to uncompressed QT movies with Field Render set to Off, then export from Quicktime to uncompressed AVI files to give back to the client?
5. In tests I made, even though I added no compression or color-correction throughout the process, the final exported AVI files were noticeably sharper and warmer (less green) than the original AVI files the client supplied. The final AVI files actually looked better, but will cause problems when the editor tries to match shots. Any way to keep this from happening?
Thanks,
