m2ts import problem
Posted by Tubabubba on September 29, 2007 at 3:59 pmMy Vegas Prop 8 will not import m2ts files. I see the plug in the “FileIO Plug-Ins” directory, but for some reason, the software is not letting me import the files into a project. When I try to import them, I get an error message saying ‘unrecognized file format’. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

September 30, 2007 at 9:21 amI’m having the exact same problem (Vegas Pro 8 won’t import m2ts files–unsupported format). Is it possible that the program didn’t load the plugins (under: Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\ there is a file called m2tsplug)? Help me out here fellows, I’m in way over my head.

September 30, 2007 at 2:39 pmIf it’s the same problem as mine, the problem is with M2TS files. On the recommendation of another poster, I tried changing the file extension name to MTS, or M2T and it still didn’t work.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

September 30, 2007 at 3:36 pmAnd yes, it was the m2ts files I can’t import or open. When I go to the file “open” there is a listing for “All Projects and Media Files.” Scrolling through this list I find no reference to m2ts files. For those of you who aren’t having a problem, is there a listing for “m2ts”?

November 13, 2007 at 5:21 pmI’m having the same problem. When I try to import M2T files, which I captured in Vegas 8, I get an error message saying, “unsupported format.”
It’s odd that a few people seem to have the same problem, yet it doesn’t seem like many have it, as there are no solutions offered.

December 16, 2007 at 2:15 amHello I have the same issue as everyone in here…
A re-install of WinXP SP2 and .NET 2 framework did not help. Still get the same issue that Vegas Movie Studio Platinum not recognising either .MTS and .M2TS files.

March 9, 2008 at 8:46 pmi found a solution to this problem by accident….
i had a trial copy of vegas which expired, when i re-installed it, this problem started.
i uninstalled vegas, deleted all vegas folders, (including the one in the sony setup directory) and then cleaned the directory using registry mechanic.
i also disassociated the m2t file type (go to: my computer/tools/folder options/file types) the m2t files were associated with quicktime for some reason.
after all this, i re-installed vegas, and now everything works fine…try it out
hope it works for you.
