  • M100i 8.2.1 doesn’t see firewire input signal. Please HELP!!!

Nothing has changed since we used it last time digitizing from our dvd deck via firewire. Nothing has changed, yet M100 just doesn’t detect the signal. The firewire ports are fine – every FW drive connected is on the desktop, and the project is playing fine. The port on the deck is fine too – we just digitized test footage onto FCP. The hardware settings are all switched to DV (video, audio and no deck control). We are going crazy – please help.

    Thanks,

    Vic

    Dave,

Do you have the device connected to the FireWire port on the Media 100 card, or the FireWire port on the Mac?

Actually, if you have digitized into FCP you most likely do have the deck connected to the FireWire port of the Mac, and not to the FW port of your P6000 board as you should have,

This actually reminds me of a problem I encountered a month or so ago and just said screw it. I have a Mac Pro desktop running Producer 11.6 and I tried hooking a Philips DVDR3575H DVD recorder I recently got to a firewire port on the computer in an effort to dump out from the timeline to DVD. Unfortunately, the Media100 Producer I/O settings never recognized the deck. It recognizes my Canon camcorders for I/O. It also has been flaky recognizing a JVC SR-VS30 MiniDV/SVHS deck I have via firewire. Maybe it’s a FW 800 vs 400 thing. ?? I was trying the FW800 jack on the front of my Mac.
