I have a client who provided ALEXA footage & wants to transcode from Apple ProRes 4444 to Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) w 709 wrapper. I have done some the research & cannot find anything helpful; I’ve also taken a look at the ProRes white papers and no luck there either. Am i missing something? I’d like to know the workflow for how to do this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

    I’d suggest using a Filter.

    Glue Tools is good.

    Pomfort also has one.

They are filters you will put on every clip in the timeline to transform to 709.

You can also build a LUT from Arri and use LUT Buddy (all free), but it seems to be really slow.

Are you planning on finishing in a dedicated grading application?

I’ve found the fastest way is to use Da Vinci Resolve Lite which is free. An 8 core MacPro with a single ATI card will apply a LogC to Rec709 LUT a bit faster than realtime sourcing and saving to our Xsan.

The one big caveat is it does not pass the audio.
